What is a Placepot?
Placepot — A Tote pool bet — pick a horse to be placed in each of the first six races at a meeting.
6 races · pick a placed horse in each · Tote pool
The Placepot is the Tote’s hugely popular pool bet. You pick one horse to be placed (not necessarily win) in each of the first six races at a meeting. Get a placed runner in all six and you win a share of the pool — split between all the winning tickets.
The clever part is perming: pick more than one horse in the trickier races to improve your chance, and the lines multiply (2 × 1 × 3 × 1 × 2 × 1 = 12 lines, so a 10p Placepot there costs £1.20). Because places pay, it’s a low-cost, long-lasting bet — one ticket can keep you interested through a whole card.
Build your own from our racecards and ratings — every runner ranked, with the market and form laid out to help you find solid place chances.

Frequently asked questions
Does my horse have to win the Placepot?
No — it only needs to be placed (finish in the each-way places) in each of the first six races. The number of places depends on the field size.
How much does a Placepot cost?
From as little as 10p a line. If you pick more than one horse in a race, the lines multiply — total cost is your unit stake times the number of lines.
